Cheesy Sausage Muffins are a perfect make-ahead breakfast or snack that’s hearty, savory, and loaded with flavor. They combine sausage, cheese, and a fluffy muffin base into individual servings that are both convenient and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease well.
  2. Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain and let cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sour cream, and melted butter until smooth.
  5. Stir wet mixture into dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in cooked sausage and 1 1/2 cups of the cheese.
  7. Spoon batter evenly into muffin cups. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool slightly before serving warm.
