Ingredients

For the Filling:

· 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
· 1 small onion, finely diced
· 2 cloves garlic, minced
· 2 tbsp ketchup
· 1 tbsp yellow mustard
· 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
· 1 tsp paprika
· ½ tsp salt
· ¼ tsp black pepper
· 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or American cheese)
· ¼ cup dill pickle relish or finely chopped pickles (optional but recommended)

For the Dough & Assembly:

· 1 tube (13.8 oz/390g) refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll dough
· 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
· 3 cloves garlic, minced
· 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
· ½ tsp garlic powder
· For topping: Sesame seeds, everything bagel seasoning, or grated Parmesan

For Serving (Optional):

· Burger sauce (mix mayo, ketchup, relish, mustard)
· Extra ketchup and mustard
· Additional pickles
· Side salad or fries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned and onion is soft (5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  3. Add minced garlic, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in shredded cheese and pickle relish (if using). Set aside to cool completely.
  5. Prep Garlic Butter & Dough:
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and garlic powder.
  8. Unroll the pizza dough or crescent dough onto a lightly floured surface. If using pizza dough, roll into a roughly 10×15 inch rectangle. If using crescent dough, press seams together to form a single sheet.
  9. Assemble Roll-Ups:
  10. Brush dough lightly with about half of the garlic butter mixture, leaving a ½-inch border.
  11. Spread the cooled burger filling evenly over the dough.
  12. Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log, pinching the seam to seal.
  13. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the log into 1-inch thick pinwheels (you should get 10-12).
  14. Place pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 1 inch apart.
  15. Bake:
  16. Brush the tops generously with the remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or seasoning of choice.
  17. Bake for 18-22 minutes, until golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  18. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving—the filling will be very hot!

Dipping Sauce Ideas:

· Classic Burger Sauce: ½ cup mayo, 2 tbsp ketchup, 1 tbsp pickle relish, 1 tsp mustard.
· Smoky Fry Sauce: Mix mayo, ketchup, and a dash of smoked paprika.
· Spicy Mayo: Mayo mixed with sriracha or hot sauce.

Pro Tips for Success:

· Cool the Filling: This is crucial! A hot filling will make the dough greasy and difficult to handle.
· Seal Tightly: Pinch the final seam well so the roll-up doesn’t unravel during baking.
· Sharpen Your Knife: Use a sharp, serrated knife and a gentle sawing motion to slice cleanly without squishing.
· Make Ahead: Assemble up to the slicing step, cover, and refrigerate for up to 4 hours before baking. You can also freeze unbaked roll-ups on a tray, then transfer to a bag. Bake from frozen, adding 3-5 extra minutes.

Creative Variations:

· Bacon Cheeseburger: Add ½ cup cooked, crumbled bacon to the filling.
· Mushroom Swiss: Sauté 1 cup sliced mushrooms with the onions and use Swiss cheese.
· Jalapeño Popper: Add 2-3 diced jalapeños and use pepper Jack cheese.
· Breakfast Style: Use breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, and cheddar for a morning version.
· Pizza Burger: Use marinara instead of ketchup, add pepperoni, and use mozzarella.

These roll-ups are endlessly adaptable, perfectly portable, and guaranteed to be a hit with both kids and adults. They deliver all the satisfying flavors of a cheeseburger in a fun, dippable package!
