Description
Slow Cooker Peach Dump Cake is a simple, comforting dessert made with canned peaches, dry cake mix, and butter. The peaches cook down into a soft, syrupy layer while the cake mix forms a rich, buttery topping. It has a texture similar to a cobbler and requires very little preparation.
Introduction
This Slow Cooker Peach Dump Cake is perfect when you need an easy dessert with minimal effort. There is no mixing required—just layer the ingredients in the slow cooker and let it do the work. It’s ideal for family dinners, gatherings, or anytime you want a warm homemade dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 cans (15 oz each) sliced peaches in syrup (do not drain)
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Lightly grease the inside of the slow cooker.
- Pour both cans of peaches with their syrup into the slow cooker and spread evenly.
- If using, stir in vanilla extract and sprinkle cinnamon over the peaches.
- Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the peaches. Do not stir.
- Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much surface as possible.
- Sprinkle nuts on top if desired.
- Cover and cook on HIGH for 2–3 hours or LOW for about 4 hours, until the top is set and slightly golden around the edges.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Tips
- For less sweetness, use peaches packed in juice instead of syrup.
- Do not mix the layers after adding the cake mix; this helps create the proper texture.
- To reduce moisture on the top, place a paper towel under the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Check doneness near the end of cooking time to prevent overcooking.
Variations
- Add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves for a spiced flavor.
- Mix in fresh or frozen berries with the peaches.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the peaches before adding the cake mix.
- Use white cake mix instead of yellow for a lighter flavor.
- Use a gluten-free cake mix if needed.
Correction (Common Mistakes to Avoid)
- Do not drain the peaches unless you want a drier texture.
- Do not stir after adding the cake mix.
- Make sure the butter is distributed evenly to avoid dry spots of powder.
- Avoid overcooking, as the edges can become too dry.
